Vision

The Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan was organized in September 1991. It was created as an all-inclusive gathering of people from Edo Land living in Michigan and its surrounding communities (Ohio and Windsor, Canada). The vision of the Club was to support the economic and social development of the Edo People and individuals who identify with Edo People. On March 22, 1993, it was registered as the Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan in Detroit, Michigan, and subsequently as a non-profit organization 501(c) (3) on December 1, 1994.  

 

The Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan aims to manifest its members’ vision through community development and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Edo People from the Benin Kingdom of more than 1200 years.

 

In 2013 Edo Heritage Foundation purchased a Community Center at 20825 Evergreen Road, Southfield, MI 48075. The Edo Heritage Community Center operates under the auspices of the Foundation. The Community Center is used as a venue:

  1. To promote and educate the community on Edo State Culture.
  2. To unify Nigerian indigenes.
  3. To promote other civic activities. 

Mission

To promote Edo arts and cultural heritage; encourage closer cooperation and unity amongst all Edo people in the diaspora; work towards the progress of Edo State in the areas of education, health awareness, welfare, and economic development; educate, promote objective information about  Edo State and Nigeria to the community; cooperate and support other Nigerian organizations in promoting unity; establish a forum for promoting cultural and educational exchanges to enrich our Michigan host community.
